The west-facing knoll of our Pinot Gris site allows the vines to grow in brilliant sunlight and thinner soils. The open vine canopy results in smaller clusters and thicker skins, creating a full spectrum of flavors and aromatic development. We make the utmost use of this intense phenolic character by exposing grape must to the skins during a gentle, three-day cold soak, prior to fermentation.
The 2019 Aurosa showcases a charming, light golden rose color and unique hibiscus tea and rose hip tones. Slight wisps of lavender, violets, and tea rose intermingle with citrus, river stone, and steel. A layered, tannic texture compliments and supports the profile of this unique and intriguing expression of Pinot Gris.
