One of the Shop’s favorite rose’s every year!
The Tentations line was created in 2005 and is their negoctiate-side. They purchase fruit from their friend and family that show the same passion and commitment to the Côtes de Provence.
Tentations offers an accessible entry-point into Provence wine. Tentations is made with exceptional ingredients, including fruit from young tibouren vines and some purchased fruit from farmers they have long-standing relationships with, in prime spots in La Londe. The Tentations wines do not undergo the extensive aging process of the Clos Cibonne line. Offering immediate and unpretentious enjoyment, they are incredible food wines and represent one of the best wine values in the Côtes de Provence region.
Vintage – The 2020 harvest in Provence is a top vintage with very high quality.
The winter was unusually warm, the warmest in 62 years, so frost-sensitive buds appeared on vines in the Var department already in January. Unluckily, the frost came the last week of March, with temperatures down to -7°C. The frost affected all of Provence, where only colder areas survived because the budding had not come as far.
The summer was exceptionally pleasant and mild, without the intense heat waves which hit Provence in 2017 and 2019. The nights were cold this year, which preserved acidity in the grapes, yielding fresh wines. Grapes in 2020 had a good balance between the phenolic ripening and the sugar content, with high levels of natural acidity. Quality is excellent; however, the grapes lost to the frost means that the volume is down.
Vinification – The fruit for this cuvée is grown by vignerons in neighboring villages with whom Clos Cibonne has long-standing relationships, but vinification is done entirely in-house. The must is fermented at low temperature in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged on the lees for two months.
