This blend of Feteasca Neagra and Tempranillo is only produced by one winery in the world! Feteasca Neagra is an indigenous variety for Moldova, while Tempranillo is super rare in the country.
In 2012, these vineyards were planted with 3 hectares of Feteasca Neagra and 3 hectares of Tempranillo. For the first harvests, this vineyards was used to make a couple of mono-varietal wines, but the winemakers decided to make this interesting blend starting with the 2016 vintage.
54% Feteasca Neagra & 46% Tempranillo
This is not a heavy wine. Instead, the two varieties balance each other nicely to create a wine with delicate tannins and low acidity. Once it opens up, it is full of cherry and dried tobacco leaf notes and would be perfect alongside grilled or roasted meats, hearty vegetable dishes, and aged cheeses.
