From the winemaker:
Maison Noir Wines: Garage Wines (Micro-Negociant) focusing on specific
terroirs in Oregon by sourcing the best fruit possible from the Willamette Valley
region of Oregon to produce wines which show the individuality of their
respected sites.
Grapes: We source our fruit from several of the finest vineyards in the
Willamette Valley, it is this combination of grapes from a variety of appellations
that creates a wine that is broad and complex with many layers.
Winemaking: The 2022 vintage began with an April frost, leading to fewer buds
and unusually large clusters. But due to warm October conditions the wines turned out
fresh, complex and excellent. Seven day cold soak, with an additional 18 days of skin contact,
fermented in stainless steel. The 2022 Gamma Ray is a Pacific Northwest take on Burgundy’s
blended wine Passetoutgrain, 50% Gamay Noir, 50% Pinot Noir: Bright and Juicy with
lip-smacking cran-strawberry fruit, hints of Chinese Five Spice and leather ride the wave of ripe tannins
on the finish.
