The story of the Strofilia company began in 1980 when two friends and colleagues, engineers Giannis Maltezos and Achilleas Lampsidis, decided to plant vines on the Maltezou family estate, located in Tourkochorafo near Anavyssos. They selected foreign varieties with a view to producing a superior wine. At the same time, they repaired the old wine press and pressed their first vintage using traditional methods. The wine was bottled and named Strofilia.
From the mountainous, high-altitude vineyards with deep, clay, alkaline soils with a lot of calcium in the Stymphalia plateau, comes a young and fresh red wine made from the zone’s flagship grape, Agiorgitiko. As it’s unoaked, it’s vibrant and intense, with a rich, fruity nose and an elegant, playful palate. Don’t hesitate to serve it slightly chilled, on its own, or to experiment with unconventional pairings, such as vegetarian or fish dishes in tomato sauce.
