From the Winemakers:
A textural white wine made with fruit from Zephaniah Vineyards in Loudoun County, VA. It consists of 81% Chardonel, 15% Vidal blanc, 2% Muscat Valvin, and 2% assorted hybrid table grapes. Shimmery pineapple, with a hearty brioche core.
Winemaking: All varieties were picked on the same day and cofermented. 75% of the fruit was whole cluster direct pressed the day of the pick, while 25% underwent overnight maceration of foot-tread whole clusters before being pressed off. Fermented and aged in older (minimum 7 yrs) French oak barriques on the full fermentation lees. Some barrels were stirred, while others were allowed to rest undisturbed. Racked a week before bottling in May of 2024. Nothing was added except a small amount of sulfur, and the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
