This wine is made from a one-acre parcel at Scorched Earth Vineyard and is located closest to the river. The soils here are a bit deeper and have more organic matter than the pure sand or basalt cobbles found in other parts of the vineyard. In 2016, they grafted the vines here from Syrah to a field blend of all the grapes you would have encountered in Southwestern France in the late Middle Ages. That includes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Tannat, Abouriou, Fer, and Saint Macaire.
It is essentially a Bordeaux-style blend (but, honestly, that is an insult to this wine). It has old-school Bordeaux depth with just a touch of Brett on the end. Simply gorgeous!
